About APAC FINSTAB
APAC FINSTAB is an independent research service that organizes Asia-Pacific digital-asset regulatory developments for analysts, builders and institutional decision-makers. We separate primary regulatory evidence from reporting and interpretation, record the responsible authority and relevant dates, and publish corrections when evidence changes. Our pages are informational research, not individualized legal advice; readers should verify decisions against current official materials and qualified counsel.
Editorial mission
Our aim is to make regulatory change easier to trace and compare without hiding uncertainty. Coverage focuses on licensing, stablecoins, exchanges, AML/CTF obligations, taxation, enforcement and related market-structure developments across Asia-Pacific jurisdictions. Commercial relevance never overrides source quality, jurisdiction accuracy or the distinction between an announced proposal and an effective rule.
Source hierarchy
| Evidence level | Typical material | How it is used |
|---|---|---|
| A — Primary | Legislation, regulator notices, registers, consultation papers, court or government publications | Basis for dates, scope, obligations and status labels |
| B — Institutional | Recognized industry bodies, universities and multilateral organizations | Context and cross-market comparison, linked to the underlying primary material where available |
| C — Reputable reporting | Named, attributable reporting with a clear publication date | Discovery and context; never the sole basis for a definitive legal-status claim |
| D — Unverified | Anonymous posts, promotional claims, unattributed summaries or social discussion | Not used as evidence for published regulatory conclusions |
Frequently referenced authorities include the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Australian Securities and Investments Commission, AUSTRAC and Japan Financial Services Agency. These links identify representative primary sources; they do not imply endorsement.
Research workflow
- Discover: monitor regulator publications, official registers and dated primary records.
- Identify: record the jurisdiction, regulator, subject, announcement date, effective date and source URL.
- Verify: distinguish enacted rules, consultations, guidance, enforcement, market announcements and third-party interpretation.
- Write: summarize what changed, who may be affected and what remains uncertain, using cautious language.
- Review: check links, dates, jurisdiction purity, internal consistency and whether the cited evidence supports the statement.
- Revise: update the record when an official source changes, expires or is superseded.
Fact model and data dictionary
High-value regulatory records are progressively assigned a stable fact_id so that a claim can be traced across revisions. The target record contains:
- jurisdiction — country or territory whose framework is being described;
- regulator_entity — authority responsible for the cited action;
- event_type — law, consultation, guidance, enforcement, register change or market event;
- announcement_date and effective_date — kept separate when the source supports both;
- source_url and evidence_level — the cited material and its place in the hierarchy above;
- status — proposed, open for consultation, adopted, effective, amended, withdrawn or superseded;
- dateModified and revision_note — when and why the published record changed.
Where a field cannot be verified, we prefer an explicit unknown or omission over an inferred value. Scores, risk labels and comparisons should display their methodology and supporting evidence before they are treated as decision-ready.
Authorship and review
Pages identify an author or editorial owner and a review or modification date when that information is available. Automated systems may assist discovery, extraction, formatting and consistency checks. They are not treated as authorities. Material regulatory claims are expected to link to evidence and receive editorial review before being classified as advertising-safe or decision-ready.
Corrections and revision policy
Corrections prioritize the public record: update the affected statement, retain or add the supporting official source, change dateModified, and record a concise revision note for material changes. Silent cosmetic edits may be made for spelling or formatting. If evidence is disputed or incomplete, the page should state the uncertainty or be removed from decision-ready and advertising-safe collections.
Advertising independence
Advertising, sponsorship or commercial relationships do not determine regulatory classifications, evidence grades or editorial conclusions. Pages with thin, duplicated, broken, unsourced or unresolved regulatory content are excluded from any future advertising-safe collection until they pass review. APAC FINSTAB has not represented approval by any regulator or advertising platform.
Limitations
Regulation changes quickly, translations can lose nuance, and official sources may be amended after publication. A summary cannot replace the complete instrument or advice tailored to a specific business model. Check the cited official source, its current status and its jurisdiction before acting.
Contact and corrections
To report a broken source, factual error or jurisdiction mismatch, use the contact page and include the page URL, disputed statement and preferred primary source. Correction requests are reviewed against the evidence hierarchy above.
